Centre to rollout policy for blue economy soon

The central government would rollout a national policy on blue economy soon, according to M Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences. The policy envisages optimal utilisation of ocean resources for the country’s economic growth. At present, the contribution of blue economy to the country’s GDP stands at approximately four per cent. The policy aims to increase its contribution to double digits by 2047.
