Govt spent 75% of budgetary allocation for urea subsidy in Apr-Aug 2022

Of the Rs.630 billion budgetary allocation for urea subsidy in 2022-23, the government has already spent Rs.473 billion during April-August 2022, data released by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) showed. The amount consumed is almost three-fourth of the total budget allocation for the current fiscal and is 83 per cent higher than Rs.257.7 billion spent on urea subsidy during April-August 2021. The CAG data also showed that more than Rs.136 billion was spent on nutrient-based fertilisers during the five-month period under review. This amounts to 33 per cent of Rs.420 billion allocated in the budget for 2022-23, reported Hindu Businessline.
