Govt plans to recruit technical people at various commodity boards, certification bodies

Aims to improve quality of Indian exports

by Nidhi Bhati

The government is planning to restructure commodity boards and certification bodies including tea board, coffee board, spices board, rubber board, marine products exports development authority and export inspection council. With an aim to improve the quality of Indian exports, the government is exploring ways to bring more skilled and technical people on board. According to industry sources, the government may identify surplus employees and gives them the option of voluntary retirement. Alternatively, it can wait for the natural retirement process to take its own course and then commence focused hiring and recruitment of technical people. The commerce department has already started identifying the number of people who will retire from the commodity boards in next two years. This exercise will be completed by June 2018, added industry sources.
