CMIE upgrades its Commodities service

Navigation, presentations & coverage of data enhanced

by Mitika Malhotra

CMIE has upgraded the Commodities service today. The service has undergone a substantial upgrade as the navigation, presentation and coverage of data has been changed.

The navigation has seen two major modifications. Firstly, a listing of the Chapters and contents within them have been made available in the center. This makes it easier to view the availability of information or data for a commodity.

Secondly, we have introduced the concept of Geographical Timeline. This has helped us resolve the challenges posed by frequent changes in the geographical boundaries of States and Districts.

The coverage of data has been broadened to give more information on agricultural inputs. Detailed information on rainfall, minimum support price, land utilisation, irrigation cover, fertiliser consumption and a lot more has been added in a new section ‘Inputs’.

Presentations have been updated to become more intuitive than earlier. All the tabulations follow a standardised format of presentation. There are six types of presentations namely, ‘Time-series of India’, ‘States of India’, ‘Districts of India’, ‘Districts of State’, ‘Time-series of State’ and ‘Time-series of District’.
