Gammon India Ltd has won the contract for construction of a 12 km long elevated road corridor from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on NH 98 to Digha on Ganga Path in Patna, Bihar. Construction work on the Rs.13 billion project is expected to commence in November 2013 and it is expected to commission by September 2016.
The first 3 km of the corridor, starting from AIIMS, will be a two lane semi elevated structure. It would culminate at the Bailey Road flyover located between Jagdeo Path and Saguna Mor. The remaining portion will be a four lane elevated road. On the west, the proposed road would connect with the upcoming Sonepur-Digha rail-cum- roadbridge.
Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd (BSRDCL) in July 2013 had floated bids for the project. Gammon India emerged as the winner by quoting the lowest bid of Rs.7 billion. Hindustan Construction Company Ltd, Simplex Infrastructure Ltd, Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd, Soma Enterprises Ltd, Punj Lloyd, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Construction, Continental Engineering Company & SP Singla Joint Venture, Corsan-Carvian and Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd were among the other bidders.
