Foreign investors can buy shares through primary markets

SEBI amends Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporations regulations

Foreign investors can acquire shares in depositories and clearing corporations through primary markets. The SEBI has amended Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporations regulations as well as Depositories and Participants norms. A provision that required purchase of shares by foreign investors within 49 per cent limit only through secondary markets has now been removed.
