Welspun Group to invest Rs. 40 bln in Gujarat

3 MoUs signed during ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Summit

On 11 January 2017, Welspun India Limited, a home textile company, announced that it would invest Rs. 40 billion on three projects in Gujarat. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for these three project was signed by the Welspun Group with the state government during the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017.

The Group will invest Rs. 20 billion in developing an integrated textile manufacturing zone, which will be part of government’s Sagarmala project where Kutch is among first identified key location. The facility at Kutch is expected to generate direct employment for nearly 5,000 people and indirect employment for nearly 15,000 people.

Further, the company will invest Rs. 10 billion in its technical textile business in a move to enhance its capacity. While another Rs. 10 billion has been allocated to its advanced textile arm that focuses on manufacturing specialised materials for applications in aerospace, defence and automobile sectors.
