RIL's cumulative investment pegged at over Rs. 2.4 tln in Gujarat

Over Rs. 1.2 tln invested in last four 4 years alone

by Gayatri Rohera

Speaking at the inaugural of the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 on 10 January 2017, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that his company has cumulatively invested over Rs. 2.4 trillion in Gujarat, making it the biggest investment by a single Indian corporate house in one state.

Of this, the company has made investments to the tune of Rs. 1.2 trillion in refinery and petrochemical expansion projects in Gujarat over the past four years alone. These investments, which will complete by March 2017, exceed the commitments it made in MoUs with the state government by Rs. 100 billion.

Mukesh Ambani further claimed that the investments provide sustained employment, both direct and indirect, to over 200,000 people and contribute to state’s export competitiveness. The company has several business ventures running out of the state, including its oil refinery complex in Jamnagar.

Besides, it also has several partnerships with small and medium enterprises across textiles, plastics, and retail sectors, and in digital services too through its telecommunications venture- Jio.
