Guidance Note on Price Changes of CMIE Services

by Mahesh Vyas

In the past few years, we have made several changes in the delivery and pricing of our services.

While the changes in technology and delivery have been appreciated by all subscribers, there has been some concern regarding the predictability of the corresponding price changes.

We would like to assure all subscribers that price changes in the future would be predictable and also very reasonable.

All future price increases will be guided by the following:

  • Prices will be revised every January.
  • Price increases effective from January, would be announced in the preceding October.
  • Prices would increase by an average of 5 per cent per annum, in Indian rupees.
  • The maximum price increase in a year in a service would be 7 per cent in Indian rupees.
  • Changes, if any, in the discounts system applicable on bulk subscriptions would be announced along with price changes.
  • Price increases do not include service tax or other indirect taxes as these are determined by the government and not by us.

We hope that this predictability of prices makes it easier for all subscribers to plan their budgets well in advance.

If there is any change in this guidance, we will make an announcement well in advance.

The weighted price increase is 1.5 percent. This is the price increase experienced in subscribing to one login for each servie in Indian rupees at Rs.67 per USD.

Consumer Pyramids, which was hitherto not included in the discounting system will become eligible for discounts and Consumer Pyramids subscription can now be combined with other services to avail of discounts on the combined billing. This change in the billing of Consumer Pyramids is effective from October 1, 2016.

Effectively, the net price of Consumer Pyramids has declined by 8.33 per cent because of the change in the discounting system. If we take this into account the average and weighted price change is negative.

The number of Hits per subscription login remains unchanged at 7,000 for all subscriptions and 15,000 for Consumer Pyramids per annum.
