The sectoral services combine information available from a host of sources. These are put together to present an integrated and cohesive picture of a sector.
Often, there are multiple sources that provide data for any particular product or a sector. Each of these sources provide valuable information but none is sufficient. CMIE integrates the information from diverse sources. In most such cases, the multiple sources of data follow different nomenclature, classification and frequency of data releases. CMIE ensures that the multiple sources are tapped and integrated into one seamless database that can be used with ease.
CMIE's sectoral databases combine information available from official and private sources. Private sources could include individual companies, industry or trade associations, stock exchanges, or data could be polled by CMIE from market / industry sources.
CMIE uses a lot of micro-level databases to aggregate the appropriate sectoral estimates. In this respect CMIE's sectoral databases are rich in terms of the availability of the underlying constituents of the aggregated estimates. Official statistics do not usually provide such disaggregated details.
There are three sectoral services available. The Industry Analysis Service covers nearly a hundred manufacturing and services sectors. It provides detailed database that is updated everyday and a Monthly Review that provides a prognosis of the industries. Indian Harvest is a database on India's agricultural sector. India Trades is a detailed database on India's foreign trade.
