Macroeconomic databases cover four main groups
- National accounts statitics
- Public finance statistics
- Measures of money
- Balance of payments statistics
India, the Central Statistical Organisation is the official source for the national accounts statistics. The Ministry of Finance provides the public finance data and the Reserve Bank of India provides data on money and on balance of payments.
CMIE has used the publications of all these institutions to build India's most comprehensive macro-economic database. CMIE's contributions are in creating the long time-series, in establishing linkages between the series, in the delivery and analytical tools and in the analysis of the data. Further, CMIE's three offerings in the Macroeconomics category are not limited to only the four traditional components of macroeconomics. There is a lot more.
Economic Intelligence Service is CMIE's oldest service (it was established in 1976). It is an analytical presentation of macro-economic and other related databases. It comprises twelve issues of the Monthly Review of the Indian Economy and twelve separate statistical reference volumes.
The Business Beacon is a database of time-series over ten thousand of them - all at the all-India level and in different frequencies, covering all the macro-economic series and more. This is the ideal database for the economic researcher / analyst. While the Business Beacon provides detailed information on India, the International Economics database provides time-series data on all countries.
